At EyeSeeTea, we build User Extended to make the everyday work of managing DHIS2 users simpler, especially for teams where user administration is not a full time job: creating and editing accounts, organising groups and roles, and keeping permissions under control without clicking through DHIS2’s native admin screens one by one. Version 1.8.0 is out on GitHub and the App Hub, and it brings compatibility with the newest version of DHIS2 alongside a set of improvements to daily user management.
Ready for DHIS2 v43
User Extended 1.8.0 is fully compatible with DHIS2 v43, so teams upgrading to the latest version of the platform can keep managing users, groups and roles without missing a step.
Faster, clearer user management
We have improved how the user list and table behave day to day. A message now shows how many users are currently selected, so bulk actions are easier to get right the first time, and you can add any user attribute as a column in the table, so the information you need is visible at a glance instead of hidden inside each profile. Superusers can now use the app without the restrictions that apply to other roles, reflecting the access they already have in DHIS2 itself.
Clearer permissions across groups and roles
User Group and User Role tabs now include users from an organisation unit and the ones below it, not just the exact unit, so the list actually matches who a manager is responsible for. We have also added descriptions to make groups and roles easier to tell apart at a glance.
Safer copying and data handling
This release fixes an issue where copying a user did not refresh correctly on screen, and another where saving could overwrite a user’s verified email and other properties that should have stayed untouched. Together with improvements to password handling and permissions, the goal is the same: fewer surprises when you are managing accounts that matter.
Under the hood
Updated dependencies, translations and security fixes round out the release, keeping the app reliable and secure without requiring any action on your part.

This release was implemented by EyeSeeTea with the support of the World Health Organization and Médecins Sans Frontières (OCBA). It is through collaborations like these that we keep our tools aligned with what teams actually need on the ground.
Part of a wider DHIS2 Suite
User Extended is one of several open source apps we build to make DHIS2 easier to run day to day.
