EyeSeeTea joins HeForShe as a Company for Change

We believe that how we build our company matters as much as what we build. That belief shapes our hiring decisions, how we run performance reviews, and the commitments we make publicly. Today, we are adding one more.

EyeSeeTea has joined HeForShe as a Company for Change, a global solidarity movement created by UN Women Spain that invites organisations and the men within them to stand actively for gender equality.

This is not our first step in this direction. We are already signatories of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), the framework established by UN Women and the UN Global Compact to advance gender equality in the workplace, marketplace, and community. Joining HeForShe is the next step: a public, named commitment to keep moving.

Why this matters to us

We are a small company, which means our culture is built in concrete decisions, not delegated to departments or rolled out through mandatory training. Every hire, every conversation, every structural choice either moves us closer to the kind of workplace we want to be, or quietly works against it.

We also work in digital health and humanitarian technology. The systems we design are used by health workers and programme managers across the world, many of them women, many of them operating in contexts where inequality is structural and daily. Caring about the impact of our technical decisions on people’s lives and then not applying that same care to how we build our own organisation would be a contradiction we are not willing to accept.

We are not claiming to have this figured out. What we want is to keep listening, especially to the women we collaborate with, to understand their experience working at EyeSeeTea and where we still have room to grow. And to try, genuinely, to bring a gender perspective into the decisions we make as a company.

What HeForShe is

HeForShe is a UN Women initiative that since its launch in 2014 has mobilised more than two million people, and the organisations they lead, as active allies in the pursuit of gender equality. It is built on a straightforward premise: progress on gender equality requires the active participation of everyone, particularly those with influence and decision-making power.

As a Company for Change, we join that movement publicly.
